Welcome!

My name is Alyssa Decker (she/her), and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
(LCMHC). I graduated with my master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health
Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have experience working
with people across the lifespan with many different mental health needs in both inpatient and
outpatient settings. I primarily work with individuals 13 years old and older who may struggle
with grief, anxiety, panic attacks, obsessions and compulsions, depression, attention
deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, gender identity, sexuality, life
transitions, and stress. I also work with couples to help develop healthy relationships and
interactions, address both partners’ needs in compromise, and identify shared values.

As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, open, and nonjudgmental space where you can be your
most authentic self and feel safe exploring your inner world, your relationships, and your
external world. I create an individualized process that often blends skill-building and experiential processing to help you understand how your unmet needs may contribute to present-day distress. We begin by establishing a safe and secure therapeutic foundation, which allows space for curiosity, growth, and healing. Skill-building techniques I use are informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), among other therapy techniques that best serve your needs. For deeper processing, I integrate approaches informed by Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy. These techniques will help you by building awareness of the present moment through mindfulness, assessing your personal values and making values-based decisions, identifying contextual factors that influence your choices, and much more.

Whether you are taking your first steps in your journey of counseling, or your path is continuing,
I am honored to walk alongside, and I look forward to meeting you soon!
